no, the sunfire would win hate to say..

if its the gt and a 99 (as long as its a 5 manual) it will have this:

2.4l "TWIN CAM" 16valve
160 hp (140-ish torque as far as i can remember)

outta the box anyways it would win

i drove a bone stock one and it would eat just about anything.. (plus the 95+ "twin cam" is based on the "HO quad 4" which will produce 185 hp out of that dohc 16v.. the 95+ twin cam has a shittier flowing head and cams with less duration but give it more torque) i almost bought it.. then i checked insurance prices.. :p

HOWEVER

gm's suck at top end really badly.. i dont think it will go any faster than 160-175kmph.. (they mostly suck because of governors, and also their transmissions are geared for getting out of the box and having torque rather than being geared for top speed) as where your n/a im sure will do 200kmph no problem..

not to mention pistons hate high rpms for lengty periods, so in the long run i do not expect him to even remotely keep up.

btw, the automatic 2.4s are governed at 150ish.

The GT does have the Quad 4 engine, 2.4L (95 were 2.3L) DOHC @150HP and 140TQ. Off the line he will get you, but you "should" be recovering by third gear. In a 1/4 mile from a dead stop, he will beat you by about a car (assuming you are completly stock, including cats). Run him from a 2nd gear roll, and let us now

BTW - They have a speed limiter at 110mph (or was it 90) can't really remember......

 

i think it is 90mph fer the speed limiter, cos my 98 nissan has a 90 mph limiter!! BTW i think the 7 would win just because we only weight like 2700 pounds + driver!! try it and see!! let us know!!PEACE!!

depends on how good of a motor you got. i think its a drivers race all out. keep us posted!

 

outta the box the sunfire will have you, depends on how long this guy is gonna race you for.. if he tops his out, you will win.. if he races from one light to another, the sunfire will win man.

dont get me wrong though i want the 7 to smoke it outta the box too, but lets be realistic here.

defenately talk him into a race from a roll in 2nd though.. then im sure you will administer a decent spanking.

the muncie getrag in them is geared for torque.. so like one light to another, it would hang with alot of the cars out there..
