This thread is worthy of a bump.
BTW, maybe those that thought $500 was a high price thought that it was only for 1 fender? I don't see how that price for 2 CF fenders can possibly be considered high.

Price is reasonable. Quality has yet to be seen. I would be more interested in a wider set. A stock set does have its uses though.
A couple of questions:
1. Are the bolt holes going to be reenforced in any way.
2. Are All the Factory mounting holes going to be provided for?
3. How "thick" is the finish going to be. Will you still see the texture of the weave or is it going to be glass smooth and free of pinholes and inclusions?
4. will it be bubble free?
Personnaly I would paint them, but some of the potential customers would want the "GOLLY GEE WILLACKERS WALLY!!!" look of carbon fiber

I'm interested, and would also paint the fenders. Some weight savings data would be nice.

I would also paint them.
But, I would have a "ROTARY POWERED" sticker where the "TURBOII" one is stock. Then take the sticker off so it is written with the C/F under it.
I think a slight flare is good, nothing crazy.

Why out of Kevlar?
The strengths of an impregnated carbon fiber weave vs. a Kevlar one wouldn’t change much if any with a force being applied at an obtuse angle. The only difference would be the Kevlar would crack and cave in, absorbing the impact, and the carbon fiber would just shatter in that area, I don’t see repairing the Kevlar possible, so either way you would end up replacing the fender

Yeah you can get CF fenders, hood, and front bumper. Then leave them unpainted so it looks like you crashed your car and didn't have the money to paint the replacement parts.

The factory mounting spots will have 1 or 2 extra layers of CF to make them more rigid, but bar in mind they will be there to support something that weighs only around 5 lbs. I will not predrill the wholes as it is very easy for the customer to do, and my car versus the next T2 may have slightly different fitting. As soon as I have them said and done I will weight them versus stock. There will be a VERY big difference. The first fender made had a couple small(un der 1 sq. inch) spots where the resin/carbon pulled away from the mold causing a blemish. The surface on them is the same as the stock unpainted fender, smooth enough to have a light shine to it without clear coat. There will be no "bubbles".
If the 500$ price tag is too high , take a look at other FC fender prices. Or any other CF product with comparable surface area, and you will see that 500$ is quite reasonable. Also I being a fellow T2 owner am always open to trades that will benefit my motor!

The weight differences are negligable, and kevlar is costly, i dont think you would get a noticable weight difference after 6 or 7 full layers, but i could be wrong

Not to mention it's almost impossible to work with. Kevlar would be a little more ideal, but realistically CF is fine.

but the differences in the physical characteristics of CF and CK are great.
carbon fiber is very stiff but does not react well to severe impact. on the other hand you can kick the **** out of a CK panel and it will come right back to where it started.
