Who would be intrested in buying Carbon Fiber Fenders?

I recently bought quite a bit of Carbon Fiber, and a Carbon/glass hybrid weave. That being the case I have been doing a lil experimenting, as I am still somewhat a novice. Anyway, I made a fender the other day and it came out beautifully. I have yet to weigh it versus the stocker but it feels about 1/4 the weight of the stock one!! When I lifted it from the mold I was shocked! The one I made, I used 1 ply of 2x2-5.7OZ twill, 1 ply of the carbon/glass weave and another of the CF.
Anyway would anyone here be intrested in buying a set, if I can/do infact get another pair ready to go in good quality? I WILL post pics within the next week or so. Or will have someone post them for me as I dont know how to do so. The price will prolly be around 500$ a pair.
Any way, is there any intrest?

Not being critical or anything, but did they turn out better than your hood?
You know how to post pics.

TurboSmoke 08-27-02 10:19 PM

got any pics? the price is a little hight

TriTurboGen3 RX-7 08-27-02 10:24 PM

Are they any wider than stock ? Something like the GS sports ?

BTW Anyone know the website for Gs sports

Rotary-Revolution 08-27-02 10:24 PM

They did come out better than my hood, As I said I am still learning. I am an honest person. "You know how to post pics" - I DONT know how to post pics, I always have someone post them for me, do a search with my username. You must dislike me huh?

TurboSmoke 08-27-02 10:41 PM

send the pics to JBush85016@aol.com and i will post them when you are ready

banzaitoyota 08-27-02 10:43 PM

No dislike intended at all. Its just the fact you have had pics in your previous posts. And the hood did not have a "finished appearance", especially aronf the lights. I just asked if the quality was better than your hood, thats all: No malice implied or intended. If my wording offended you I am truely sorry, and extend my apology :)

Wow sounds nice. The idea alone that someones willing to make them catches my interest. Id definetly like to see the finished product.

kristopher_d 08-27-02 11:12 PM

Man I wish I were at that stage in my mods.

TurboSmoke 08-27-02 11:14 PM

500.00 seems a bit high though

3rotor02 08-27-02 11:18 PM

put me in on a pair for (fd3s) i already have the carbonfiber doors

E6KT2 08-27-02 11:18 PM

The price sounds right. I would pay that much if they were well made. Take that for what it's worth considering that I do my own composites work. Would you consider trading for a CF hood? That project should be starting in a couple of weeks. BTW, lets see the pics!!!:)

boostmotorsport 08-27-02 11:31 PM

Honestly, I have only gotten 75% of the work done on one yet so I dont know yet, if I have a "sellable " product. So far, though it looks good. I would trade for a CF hood in a minute! I have made about 4 unsuccesfull ones!! Pretty expensive learning process!! If you(or anyone) can make and produce CF hoods for FC's for under 600$ and have a dozen or so "in stock", you could make a lotta $! I wish you the best of luck with that.
The price I set is dictated by the value of the materials used, my time to make them/ and deal with the rigours of selling them, and the price of other CF fenders for more popular cars. With that in mind 500$ is a good deal(IMO).

scathcart 08-28-02 02:08 AM

I find $500 cheap, actually, for what is being offered. Just one hood is usually around $700, and we're talking about twice the material and twice the tooling time.

Jspecracer7 is right. $500 is a VERY affordable price.

Barwick 08-28-02 11:25 AM

I'd be interested I suppose.. my drivers side front fender is mucked up.. as long as it can be painted to look COMPLETELY stock, then yeah I'm interested at some point.

Actually the wider fiberglass ones (stock appearing) from Mariah were about $375 each last time I checked. $500 for CF would be a good deal, if the quality is there.

Not really interested, BUT could you please try a CF sunroof!!!!!

Rust started eating mine :(

Turbo_Rotary 08-28-02 02:44 PM

If you make them a bit wider than stock, I would definetely be interested in CF fenders. If these were made I would be set to have a whole CF front end!

Sammymatik 08-28-02 06:41 PM

Hey boostmotorsport,

I had tried to make some fiber glass flip up headlight covers, but I'm extremely novice. I think my molds were just not that great, I gotta go at making a good mold though. Do you have any pictures of your mold setup?

I did vac bags too, works really well. ALthough I have heard that bag material can be a pain to find. I just bought some from a guy who makes awesom huge catamaran boats.

I'd like to make a CF hood, but I need more practice.
