Who here messed with their FC today?

because i did... bye bye air pump, ACV, cruise control, cold-start assist, AAS, and hello cold air intake:

look ma, no air pump!

acv block off plate.... purty

wow! i can actually see the stock exhaust manifold! this will help a lot installing the headers... the car still starts right up, idles fine, a little bit higher actually. i havent driven it yet though, waiting for the RTV to dry a little more on all these damn lines.

your turn, post pics of what you did today! as we speak i'm going back outside to remove the charcoal canister, AAS computer and cruise control box.

radiator shroud has been off for a long time now - no problems with overheating. a koyo radiator and efan is soon to be put on the car.

excuse my retardness - what is an MBC?

forgot to mention - strut bar was removed in the pic to access the intake piping. the left side of the engine looks so damn empty compared to the right. i'm halfway done removing the PS too, still contemplating the A/C.

Hey 7thHeaven, did you have a problem with 5 and 6 actuators when you removed the air pump?. Im thinking about removing my Air pump too, but my exhaust is still stock. I noticed you already have the exhaust done. Also, where did you get the block off plate?

I just let it sit, I'm still trying to decide the best way to fix it thanks to Ms. Deer who was nice enough to jump infront of my car.

deer + RX-7@85mph = dead deer and broken RX-7.

Pulled the drive shaft today because of a bad Ujoint. Found a place that said they could replace them but all the RX-7 sites say that you would have to buy a new drive shaft.
We will see!

omg, Kai, that ******* sucks lol.

the filter is surrounded by the wheel well and the brake duct. in the pic i moved the plastic cover out of the way. hmmm.. try double sided tape for your project

from what i gathered in the haynes manual and the racing beat downpipe/presilencer install directions: S4's dont use the air pump for the 5th/6th ports, only S5's do. racing beat TELLS you to remove the air pump and ACV when installing their dp/ps on an S4 (86-88). the airpump for S4's is used to pump air into the cat for emissions if i remember correctly, or the ACV does it. either way the air pump and ACV work together. correct me if im wrong, but it's useless on an S4 from what i've read on here and the manuals. and if i'm wrong, too bad for me, my engine bay looks amazing with all that **** out and the car runs great. get exhaust first, then remove it. the block off plate came with my racing beat presilencer and downpipe set. you can find block off plates on ebay and i think icemark sells them.

add charcoal canister and double throttle diaphram to the list of items gone =p vigorous FC slim fast diet owns!

It's not too bad, mostly sheetmetal damage. I've pulled the headlight already, and am waiting for a new hood and fender. The bumper cover is salvageable with a little flat black paint.

I installed my fire exstinguisher yesterday.

It's sad when I know I will use it unlike all the ricers which have them for "Display" only.

It's kind of funny. You can tell your an Rx7 nut when you carry every tool needed to remove the manifolds from the engine with you and some extra vac hose 24/7.

I had a close encounter with a deer while driving across country in my newly purchased turbo 2. I was cruising along at like 80 (somewhere i the middle of buttfuck montana) when a deer ran out in front of me, i hit the brakes and missed it by like a foot. I think if i had hit it i would have got out of my car and started kicking it(the deer). lol

ps i hope you killed the deer

Packed up my 94 FD for winter and detailed the 91 FC which will be my winter car. Dumped in some injector clearner, sprayed carb cleaner all over the place - throttle linkages, 5 and 6th port actuators and got the surprise of my life. It drives pretty near like a new car. Next stop is the tire place for some new Blizzaks.
