I'm not even going to comment on your lack of knowledge when it comes to peripheral engines. CJ

How is nitrous cheating?

Whoever crosses the finish line first wins. Having a bottle in the back doesn't make your car not naturally aspirated.

ok lets set a few rules.. since maybe we can start competing for fastest n/a... lets set a limit to the nos shot.. maybe 50 shot i would say max.. and more then that could be considered cheating... but if you have more still post your time just for fun.. or should we just ban nos all together.. maybe that would be best and see what all motor can do...

Hey, I was just saying that I didn't consider nitrous to be cheating.

However, if you guys are setting rules for "Fastest n/a", then ban nitrous if you guys want.

Personally, I'd say no forced induction and no nitrous, all motor.

well, lets lay down some ground rules, and call this a competition for the fastest n/a FC.

1: no forced induction or nitrous, period
2: Stock, or reprogrammed stock EMS. No Haltechs, etc. Also lets require the stock sensors. This will rule out PP's and large bridge ports. Also rules out carbs.
3: no slicks. street tires only.
4: must be street legal, but not necessarily emissions legal

This should make it fun, and keep the playing fiels pretty level. And also make money not so big of an issue.

I don't know if i stated this yet or not...but my current 90s best run was a 15.1@94.78 (Or something close to that), dyno'd 167rwhp before a couple more mods. However, like i said, i'm bottoming out the stock airflow meter.

What its going to come down to is, who has some nice wide street tires, and the track/air conditions to break into the 14s.

I have the power i think to run in the 14s. Not to mention, in the fall, oregon has some realy nice cool days. Perfect for making some good power. I don't care if i run a 14.9....as long as i run a 14, i'll be happy. (What am i talking about???? My FD runs in the 12s!! And i'm still trying to get my FC into the 14s!! )

not to mention the nos...

and a few other little mods done to
the car.
I just wished I had more time to mess
with it. between helping out with
sons football team and work

I love my vert. I hardly drive it past 80mph. I guess I'm scared to mess it up. I wouldn't know fast if it bit me in the butt......

As PP13B NOS said we jsut arent even going to comment becuase its very evident that you do not even have anywhere near the experience with these engines that we do.

Also, a nitrous engine is not an N/A. There may not be a rise in pressure in the intake manifold, but there sure is inside the chambers. It is a different form of forced Induction.

as for answering the thread, the fastest N/A rotary time in the 1/4 that I know of was 9.64 sec. done by Bam bam Miata from puerto rico. it was a PP 13B fuel injected. It now runs a 13B PP and NOS and is running 8.33 in the 1/4.

Nitrous oxide is artificial aspiration, you're spraying basically liquid air and additional fuel into the engine... therefore it's more than the engine could achieve "natural".

Any why no Haltech/carb/big ports/etc? Why not then just say "who's running the fastest almost dead stock N/A" then?

If you wanna be fast, you gotta open up the ports

I said that because anyone can be fast with a big port/haltech/etc. All it takes is an open wallet. I wanted to see some innovation. People extracting every ounce of power out of their engine.

BTW, you can still run a large SP, and race ported exhaust on the stock ECU. That will still make good power. Ive seen IT7's putting 200 rwhp, and their engien rules are more strict that what I listed.

Heres an idea. 2 classes. One unlimited, one with the above set of rules.

A Haltech costs less than a Mazdatrix true-dual exhaust.... any schwang with $1500 to burn and some wrenches can bolt on an additional 35 or so HP with the exhaust, but you have to know what you're doing to do a Haltech, or to port your engine, etc. (besides, porting an engine costs only a gasket set + time if you have a running engine and the inclination to do it yourself and the inclination to learn to do it right...)
