no issue with plates.
the problem was with the housing warpping from the heat needed to cure the powder coat. I did 2 sets of housings and all 4 them warped
yeah I wont powder coat housings ever again

Soon i'll be painting mine as well.... someone asked me what color i was going to paint my rotors, i thought they were joking so i laughed but they were serious. So i told them what they needed to hear..... Yellow
As per my experience, Hemi Orange is the best color for oil (and any other fluid) visibility. Though since it is orange, it doesnt really go with much. Any bright color will work, and work well, as long as you can determine what is oil leak, and what is road grime.
Blue sometimes hides small leaks, and black of course, while it might look good, would be a bitch to find leaks on. If it were show only, and it never really ran, then yeah, I would say go nuts, paint it black, and light it with neon.
Since you are probably going to drive it though, stick to the bright colors. They make it easier to pick out fluids.

That's probably the worst advice I can think of for a streetcar. I mean, I can think of nothing more awesome than popping the hood on your 3 month old rebuild to show one of your friends and seeing EVERY speck of dirt, grime, and grease on your engine simply because you were paranoid about finding leaks.
Realistically, after just a few weeks, engines get dirty. People spill coolant and oil, and other fluids. Dirt and water get pulled up from the road and land on top of the engine. The engine WILL get dirty regardless of whether or not it leaks.
Now, the question is, would you rather see all the dirt (between cleanings) or would you rather it be fairly hidden?
The dark colors do that. I like the black and gunmetal for this. It provides contrast, yet hides dirt and grime perfectly. It is also a technical color combination, which adds to the theme of most rotary engine bays.

I think you forgot something. Rotors go INSIDE the engine
