Nascar, isn't that the sport where mega powerfull cars that can hardly turn race on a track that is made with banks and **** so you don't actually have to turn?

Sorry I am not a fan of Nascar, I find it fairly booring. Rally on the other hand for me is one of the greatest car sports there is, rally shows the ultimate control people can have over cars. You said it yourself, you don't know the course, you just get a map and thats it. You really have to have SKILL to finish without crashing your car seeing the speeds at which these guys drive, and you must be FREAKING MAD to even start in this sport as its dangerous as hell, no safeties what so ever, if you make a wrong turn at 100mph you are toast.

Wow congrats to InitialDFC. Must be a dream come true.

heh when I owned my MK II Supra, I had my license for a bout a month. I was bit by the Initial D bug like soo many others. A month behind the wheel of a car and I was throwing it into powersildes around gradual corners. Well needless to say that ended with me putting my car into a tree like the dumbass I was. If you want to learn hit up hot lapping days. Either way I'm a hyprocite, I kept doing it on the street after I fixed my car. haha.

It's pretty hard to explain how to drift, all I can say is it's all in the braking balance of the car. Just go out there and go nuts at a track evetually you'll get it. haha. There is a movie out there called "The Drift Bible" that movie does probably the best job of explaining the techniques, but you really need to be in the drivers seat to understand them.

Drifting is the slowest way around a corner, even a faint 4 wheel drift is slower then a proper apex or trail brake. Drifting however is the most fun you can have on 4 wheels ! Although to say it has no place in motorsports is garbage I find having the ability to control your car well sideways makes you a better road racer simply because you can hold the limit and break the limit with that much more confidence.

Sure wish there was a D1 scouting event near me. It would be awesome to see how I compare to others who are into the sport. Ah well maybe in the future right.

whats the real point of driftng? it looks stupied like the person dont know what hes doing, i always laugh when i see thies kids trying to slide and calling it "drifting" its just sliding due to shitty tyres and all its really sad that someone intenionaly wants to ruin there car doing stupied thing like that.

i mean i see nothing wrong with a 180° conor and using your handbrake to get around it, but we have highend toqure and than would end up hurting us, the correct way to drive is aproach away from the conor, meet the center of the conor as close as you can and fall to the outside acclerating from the center.

Whats the point of drifting? Well whats the point of freestyle bmxing or motocross? FUN! Drifting really doesn't ruin the car. If you think drifting is done by those who don't know what they're are doing behind the wheel you are either A. ignorant or B. watching just that people who don't know what they're doing behind the wheel try and drift a car.

So in your expertise the fastest way to get around a road course is to clip the apex. True, but not every corner. Many many times the fastest way is late apexing. While you may not be faster through the corner you will carry more exit speed and IMHO thats the most important thing on a road course. If you read my post you would see that I also mentioned drifting is the slowest way around a corner.

I don't really try all that much but it is fun when I do.

Tonight I was in town and I turned onto the wet road and decided to give it just a little gas haha. I was in complete control but I think I freaked out the people who saw me.

Don't worry, I'm not stupid enough to do it all the time.

On a serious note, what are some good rear tires that can take the abuse of drifting?

Personally, I'm more into autocross because it's less abuse and cheaper.

You should be between 5 and 6 thousand. You don't need to floor it in a T2
