There is 2 wheel drifting. (show drifting the kind you see in option2 etc.) and traditional 4 wheel slide, what was once just called and still is called a drift.

Just saying here what I've heard, I've never put this into practice, I'm not a drifter..... YET... So I could have gotten it wrong.... I only tried power sliding on wet tarmac so far...
Once my car is ready and working fine, I'll be practicing, practicing and practicing even more Anyone got good links or info about how to setup the FC suspention best for this, please let me know (pm me).

you know whats real drifting?!? my FWD e-brake drift!! that takes some skill, lol im jp, even though i have been known to try and drift it, i actually used my body weight and everything...someone give me a cookie.
i got a 90 gxl now, so when i finish dropping in the extra engine, im thinking about buying an LSD. the engine is almost out, just a few more tough *** bolts.
there are a couple of windy back roads where i live though, would be tight, if i could get some friends to watch both entrance and exit of the road, and make sure no one is coming.
if you have automodelista, it explains all the different drift techniques. id explain em all, but i gotta get ready for work and dont have time.

I think the proper set up is that you REALLY need a stiff suspension.
TEIN's Type HE coilover has a set just for the FC
go to their site and check it out
Sway bar, anti-roll etc. add ons to stiffen up the car will definitely help
a little trick also... is to have smaller size wheels in the rear.. perhaps a 15 or even a 14 inch with little tread left on them will also make it easier.. but the front tires should have great traction.
LSD is very important if you want to make your drift long and look nice... however, if your car does not already have it.. going aftermarket is a bit pricey.
Having lots of power helps too.. it would make it easier to break the car loose its rear.. perhaps more important for beginners.
I am not too good at it, but tried to practiced a bit in parking lots.

the next stage is a technique where you rev it up to 5-6K rpm then put it to 2nd gear with a hard turn will break into a drift as well.
And there is a long Chukadori.. (Long Power Slide)

Thanks man, do you have the url for that website? Not sure if I can get their stuff to Holland easilly and my FC needs to be in working shape before I start modding it, I need to be able to drive it to and from a shop for that, at my home I can only do so much

I'm a wanna-be currently. I usually only do it when it rains in parking lots.
My GTU is my daily driver though so I have to be careful.
I've only done dry about 3-4 times.
I want to learn though. It's so much more fun than stoplight racing. I'm also NA so I don't have a lot of HP to break em loose with.(I understand it's not needed,but I'm a beginner)

i read on the forums that my year GXL doesnt come with an LSD, only turboII. i dunno if i misread it or if the guy didnt know what he was tlaking about. i hope i have an lsd though, thats some money i can save, to put towards something else. does anyone actually know if my 90 gxl has an lsd?? thanks

mightymouse, I'm not sure, look at the sticky msgs in this forum, there is one that shows the product catalogs for each year.
According to the catalog my 1987 GXL has LSD, but maybe the 90 models don't?

negative...a scandinavian flick is whenever there are consecutive turns, (ie....left, right, left), and you constantly rotate the weight on every turn, consecutively, without going straight...hmm....something like consecutive "S-turns". what you were talking about, (feint-drift), is whenever you use the momentum of your car, (starting in the opposite direction), to complete a tighter line into the direction of your desired drift. (the turn is right, but you shift the weight left, then you rotate it back to the direction of the corner). Theres a whole video out there of like, 7 different techniques hosted by the former drift king himself, "Keiichi Tsuchiya".

Hey InitialDFC, why do you drift with your door open?
Damn wish we had this in Holland, there are very very very very few places you can do this. Only on special road handling courses where for much money a track is rented out for a couple of hours.

WHOW, what sorta outside temps do you have there that you need to open the window?? I took my previous RX7 out to the ring once on a hit day, almost burned my right foot near the gearbox so hot it got, but with both windows open it was managable inside the car even on the racetrack
