Who does the best rebuilding work??

If you're on a budget and the goal is to have a stock or mildly modified motor, one that is regarded as the best is Kevin Landers of Rotary Resurrection. Expect to pay about $1000 for a S4/S5 motor rebuild.
If you want to put together a race motor or a highly modified one, I don't have any recommendations. There are shops that specialize in rotaries. Atkins Rotary and Rotary Performance www.rx7.com come to mind. But the price is going to go up by at least $1500. Expect to pay around $2500-3000+ for a rebuilt or built performance motor from these shops.

For people that are in the North Eastern Area, Kahren a forum member here and on NoPistons does brilliant work rebuilding and porting engines. He is very talented also at tuning standalone fuel systems. If you do not live close enough to Kevin Landers or other reputable builders, and are up in the New England area he is a very good bet. To lay stake to that claim I believe he holds the current record for most hp out of a stock port NA motor with no sort of Forced Induction. You can check that in the Dyno and Time Slips section.

I had a motor built at www.mazdatrix.com almost 8 years ago, it was streetported, with ceramic apex seals. It was a BEAST! Still see the car every now and then and it's on the same motor according to the owner.. Cost was $2300 plus $300 shipping (it was a 12A). I would highly recommend this company but only if you want to shell out a TON of money....

Ive heard mostly positive about Mazdatrix, Atkins rotary,
and Isc racing. I have heard all negative about Hayes rotary.
But I know people who have bought engines off of most
all vendors. With all the good words about Kevin Landers,
I would see about contacting this guy. I dont know him
but I guess some forum members have had good experiences
dealing with this guy. Just my.02
