white smoke at idle

i have a 87 turbo 2 and on startup it doesnt smoke but after about 1 minutes it will start to smoke white and while im driving it seems to not smoke but once i stop at a light after about 20 seconds it will start to plume heavy amounts of white smoke. is this a coolant leak?

Is this a symptom of the coolant seal epidemic?

OR maybe its just a sign of a dying turbo.. a bad seal on the turbo will smoke at idle and stop smoking under any load..... turbo is cheaper than an engine. lets start with the simple stuff first then talk apocalypse later. if it was coolant you would have had to replace it by now...... check your coolant level....

Dont just buy a turbo... god that was terrible advice.

Get a compression check.

See whats going on inside there.

There's a coolant seal test, I had forgotten what it was, I'm sure it's on the forum somewhere.

ok well it isnt coolant. its oil :/ kinda relieved its not coolant but i just looked underneath and there is oil dripping from the hotside of the turbo causing it to smoke. but the turbo is in good condition and i have no oil residue in the intake or intercooler. so what i need to know now is where the oil coming from!?

If it smokes from under the hood and is blue, it's oil.

If it's smoke coming from the exhaust and it's white, it's either just burning off condensation, or it's coolant.
