White gauge faces install...clarification on wiring

Alright...I'm putting in those reverse glow gauges in my car....and of course no instructions which seems to be the norm from searching. My question is for clarification. Where do I hook the power wire up? From reading several older threads (with mostly dead links), some say to wire it to the one running to the dimmer switch and some say don't because it'll ruin the new wiring because the drop in voltage will increase the amperage which these aren't meant to take. So...where should I wire it to do it right?

Tell me where the harness is and what color and all that good stuff if possible for power and ground on an 88 TII.

I wired mine to the cigarette lighter bulb (not the lighter itself). Works well with the dimmer as its a 2 stage dimmer switch when its running tandum. (Dimmer+stock Dimmer)

I take the current from the headlight switch. I also installed a relay for the autometer gauges and the reverse glow. I take the signal for the relay from the headlight switch.
