Angry 87 n/a with 88 turbo motor

okay so im looking all over the forums and i cant really get a straight answer. i have a 88 turbo two and i would like to swap it into my 87 gxl. can i use the n/a wiring harness on the turbo motor. what about the dash harness. i read that i would need the main dash harness... which one is this, why do i need it, and is there anyway around it. ive obviously never done this before and i just want to get everything right so this doesnt take forever. the wiring harness to the motor on the t2 has a micro tech lt8s wired into it. i would prefer to use an apexi power fc that is why i asked about the wiring harness on the motor. im really hoping that i dont need to swap that giant *** harness that goes through the fire wall on the left side of the car. please help, just want to get this done. thanks you guys for any help

I know that your dash harness should plug right in to the ecu and you can use the n/a harness. But I think with the s4 TII you might have to run a wire for feul pump if I recall. I did mine from s4 to s5. Do a couple of searches on wiring and I'm sure you will find all the info you need. Good luck with the swap.

You SHOULD use all n/a wiring on the 88turboII engine. Do NOT use a turbo EM harness on the engine. All n/a harness. NO turbo wiring needed or wanted on this swap.

Several posts have been made recently about this same swap. On the n/a EM harness there is but a couple of small wiring changes to make everything work. But the engine and turbo will work without even doing these small changes.

IF you use a turbo EM harness, MANY wire changes have to be made for it to run right and the plugs that need the wiring changes are in the passengers foot well up and to the right. Hard to work on.

EM......Emissions harness is the one on the engine with the fuel injectors etc.

ENGINE HARNESS.....Is located on the left of the engine bay and has thnigs like the cas plug and the engine bay fuse box on it.

Front harness.........the one that mates with the EM harness to provide the EM harness with power and also feeds the wiper motor etc.

Dash harness..........forget it. Noting to do with what your doing.

And you NEED a turbo ECU and turbo pressure/boost sensor plus turbo afm imhumble opinion.

The MICKEY TECH wiring is probably going to screw you over. Just a wild guess.

okay thanks man that helps alot. i wont swap out any of the wiring out of the gxl. the turbo motor has the microtech hooked up to it so ill just get rid of the micro tech and harness. i want a power fc from apexi anyways. that is good because i dont want to tear the entire dash out of the gxl. ill just slide the turbo motor and tranny into the bay and plug in the gxl harness. thanks

This recent thread gives a little more detail. The NZ has some words of wisdom in it. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/using-n-harness-tii-swap-possible-667360/

I just finished the exact same swap, an 88 TII into my 87 n/s. I used the TII harness with the coils, afm, computer, and boost sensor. It was as bad as people make it. All I did was modify two wires, one for alternator, and another for the temp sensor on the instrument cluster.
