Unhappy Whine from Intercooler housing

88 RX7 Turbo II, 10th anniversary edition........I have an intermittent, high pitched whine coming from the area where the intercooler intake is. It doesn't seem to be effectinig power, but the whine comes and goes at will (more often now than last week etc...). Usually more when warm. Any ideas???
The whine starts about 5 minutes after cold start. (at warm up). It is pretty well constant, during idle, while decelerating. cruising, and I believe under boost too, but it's hard to hear it under boost because of the noise of the vehicle, exhaust, intake, tires screeching (haha) and turbo whistle. Then, out of the blue, it stops whining. I can't assosiate any activity with the time it stops, nor when it returns randomly some time after that....
Any suggestions will be appreciated
Tks - Ron

just a guess.... is your alt belt to tight? maybe making the alt whine?

you could make a pvc pipe IC replacement put it on and see it is still make the noise... cheaper than getting another IC. plus good for when you need to make adjustments to things under yout stock top mount... tps, idlestop screw, ect...

or if you have one change them out.. maybe your stock topmount has failed/cracked just a little. enouf to make noise but not to effect power.. like the whistle when u have a bugger in your nose. lol

we'd probably be able to help more if you knew more... I have no idea what you mean by intercooler intake... there is no such thing.

you have an intake. which goes into the turbo. then there is a pipe from the turbo to the intercooler.

the intercooler itself won't make noise. unless there is a hole in it.

is it the turbo making the noise?

Appreciate the responses guys. I'll fire it up tonight and see if I can identify the exact location of the whine and post again tomorrow.
Tks
