while I'm posting tonight :) intake temp guage doesn't go above 25-27*

ok I figured I would post the other problem i was having since I'm posting and all tonight Anyways I noticed on my microtech that it only shows 25-27*c no matter how hot my engine is and how hot it is outside. Today I went for a drive and it was at least 90* outside and those temps never got above those. Also This was happening before so I bought two other air intake temp sensors from banzai racing and they are doing the same thing? what do you guys think? Thanks.

edit: I'm using the stock air intake temp sensors.

Out of curiosity what are your water temps? The microtech uses the same brown wire to complete the circuit for the AIT and water temps. This may be a ground issue. There is are black and brown wire going to the intake temp and violet and brown going to the water temp. Brown is the ground.

Then again is you have a great FMIC and water injection those numbers are close to normal.

What does it say before you start the car?

Does it agree with the outside temps?

Unscrew the sensor and put it in some hot water.

Thanks for the reply guys I do appreciate it!!! I was wondering if it was a grounding issue as well but my water temp guage is right on the money at about 88-90c the electric fan turns on and 84 it turns off. Is there any sort of body ground it needs? I did paint the intake elbow but the sensor was in when it got painted so the threads didn't get painted over. I guess just to see i could try just running a piece of wire around it and grounding it to the body but of course thats if it needs a body ground. As far as does it agree with the outside temps no they don't. Each one ranged from 13 to 15 witch is no where near 90*.

edit: maybe I should just run another temporary ground from the ground on the ait to the body just to see if it is that ground?

nothing doing. I tried making the ground better going to the ait by getting another wire and attching it to the ground side of the plug and then to the body and i got nothing. If I put it on the positive side it would go crazy, lol so I know the wire is grounded and working.

If you look at the wiring diagram, it actually grounds to the battery. Try running a ground from the brown wire to the battery. Also check the voltage at the black wire it should be 5v IIRC. The sensor is basically a resistor, increasing or decreasing the resistance changes the reading at the laptop "dashboard".

ok cool thanks guys I'll try grounding it at the battery even though I've checked body ground before and it is great. I'll also check voltage as well. Hey hailers what will the icecube do, lol.
