The "rats nest" is the big mess of vacuum lines, solenoids, etc on the top of your motor. Most performance minded folks take all that crap out of there to clean the area up, simplify troublshooting, etc. If I come across a pic, I'll post it. But better yet, do a search on rats nest removal. It may be in the archive by now, but there are several threads on the subject, and probably have good diags and pics. This is more or less a free mod since you're just removing stuff -- I'd highly recommend doing it.

good luck!

my rats nest is sitting on a bunches of boxes in the garage. Little did I know finding new silicoln vac tubing would be so hard to do in town. Guess ill have to get it off the net. Anyhow, its 99.6% cleaner without all the hardlines that the ratsnest decides it wants in the engine bay.

I wouldn't just remove it, but rather if you ever take off your manifolds for some reason, do it then. Because if you do it just for the hell of it, you either 1) have alot of time on your hands, or 2) well ok i dont know number two.

infact only do this mod if you ditched the air pump and are trying to track down a vac leak
