i think my starter went out on my 86 gxl, i am not sure where to find it though

jack up the front drivers side. Go underneath. Look near the front of the transmission, you'll see a large cylindrical object held on by two big bolts about a foot long. There's also wiring held onto it at the top. You'll need a 14mm wrench, 14mm socket, 17mm socket (I think).
