where to start. could use some help guys
ok picked up an 86 rx7 about 4 months ago. It ran, needed new exhaust. got it for 250 bucks someone abandonded it, what fools. the engine has only 70,000 miles on it, and like i said ran when i got it. It had sat for about two years before i got it but had been started about every 6 months i guess. anyways. i go tit and ran it a few times without the exhaust, last time i ran it it was real quik and ended up flooding it. I unflooded it and it would spin and catch a tiny bit, but it was out of gas. so i put in about 5 gallons. nothing not even a catch and dry plugs. Primed the fuel system. and she will now turn over and catch. sound like it's going to start almost get there but wont make it. What could be my problem here. i havn't touched anything that would make a difference other than putting on the exhaust but that should make it better. Where should i start guys. I don't want to inject much atf or anyhting cause i live in a complex and will be working in a parking lot people don't like smoke. and it has compression anyways i think. i don't have the money to buy a rotory compression tester but i get three good swirls. should i put in a little oil? What should i do here. thanks for any info.

1.3L is not that small
what i do is pull the yellow plug off under the drivers side dashboard (this disables the fuel pump) then crank the car with the gas floored for until it catches and of course will die soon cause your fuel pump is disconnected but whatever is in the lines will start the car. might want to also clean the spark plugs too before this... spray some carb cleaner on them and light them up (that will clean them good)... then plug the connecter back in and should fire up pretty soon... good luck with that
let us know if that works.....

if you used the old varnished-up fuel that's been in the tank for a while you might have clogged up the low or high pressure filters, or worse yet, the injectors

ok this is what u do:
1. open your intake inlet (take out filter)
2. take some carb cleaner and spray it in the intake hose
3. let someone cranck it imediately
if the car cranks over as a quick start and dies out than its your fuel pump
I think this could be your problem because you ran out of fuel u said and the pump gets pluged with all the dirt in the fuel tank sitting in the bottom
than change you pump and your fuel fliter
if doesnt make a difference you got a problem with compression or spark
or one of your intake hoses from air fliter to the throttle body is loose
let me know how it went

holly **** another person from maine. I live in freeport. I didn't think there was anyone else on tis forum from maine. damn. anyways. i don't think it is my fuel pump because after i jumped the fuel pump switch to thinking the car was running. (thus priming the fuel system) that is wehn it would crank and then catch. before this it would only crank and not catch like it was flooded but the plugs were dry and the no gas smell. So i know it is getting gas now because it will fire. it just wont start up. I wan tto try to push start it but i live in an apartment complex so it's tough with people comming and going all teh time. I will find a way sometime though. i just wan tto know some steps i should go through. like how would i know if the timing is right? i assume it's right because it will fire. and it ran not long ago. thanks for the help guys.
