I asked this question on the little board, but did not get a good answer. hopefully someone here can give me a quick pointer...

after some soul searching, I decided to go ahead and get the Fluidyne radiator. and since I have a leak which I think is from the OMP, I will replace both the o-ring and the copper 5 holes gasket.

the factory manual tells you nothing about removing the OMP. the Hayes manual has a small blurb, but it is still vague.

question is this:

- I see where the o-ring goes, but where the heck is the copper gasket????

- do you have to take out the oil line banjo bolts and remove the lines to replace the o-ring/copper gaskets? hope not, but if yes, how do you remove the metal clip around the lines?? I am terrified of breaking the oil lines - at $20 a pop, that won't make my day.

Alright i've done this twice and have learned the hard way. 1st make sure that everything is cool. the cooler the better. next clean up some of that grease goo you've built up, so you can see better. You might want to spray a little WD40 on there to loosen up the lines. there are actually to sets of washer. One set goes between the head of the bolt and the banjo fitting. that's your standard copper washer and the the figure wight looking gasket thingy goes between your banjo fitting and the OMP itself. Careful not to overtighten these as they are VERY easy to break. the bolts that is. Clean the grease and all the theads and they shouldn't leak. good luck.

Once you remove the (banjo) bolts off the oil metering lines off the oil metering pump, it'll be obvious.

I have one side note on the stupid (mechanical) OMP...mines was leaking for a long time, and I changed those stupid copper crush washers in front and back of the banjo fittings on the oil metering lines twice.&nbsp It never solved the problem.&nbsp The OMP was eventually removed so I could premix - I tore the stupid OMP apart and found a HARD rubber (felt more like plastic!) o-ring/gasket on the back end of it, opposite the side where the oil metering lines are.&nbsp It was actually leaking from the OTHER END of the damn thing - this rubber o-ring was more of a diamond-shape, and it looked square in profile.&nbsp I never got around to replacing it to see if this sealed everything up, but Mazda does not list a replacement diamong o-ring for this thing...

Nah, that isn't it - I changed that "oval" o-ring 3 times too.

That's a "cover" plates secured with two Phillips head screws on the other side.&nbsp There's a "diamond" shaped o-ring that's smaller than that "oval" o-ring.

Everyone typical swaps out the four crush washers, the 5-hole copper crush "gasket", and the "oval" o-ring...
