Where to mount boost controller (profec B II)
Alright guys...I'm looking into buying a EBC to replace my MBC that apparently hates me and my car, but looking at these things....I have no idea where I can mount it.
My center console currently has the aluminum bezel that I picked up from a fellow forum member that has my cd player and 3 gauges...so using one of those DIN spaces is out...so where else have you guys mounted it? I know when I had an S-AFC I could just put it in my ash tray and it fit well enough...so technically I could go with the AVC-R and put it there...but that is much more expensive option and I really don't want to pay $150 more just so I can stick it in my ash tray. So...with a boost controller more along the lines of the Greddy Profec...where else can I put it?

I have an original Profec B and I mounted mine under the left hand side of the gauge hood. Mine is right below the turn signal lever. I used an L shaped bracket and mounted it to the gauge hood with a threaded hole which was already there. I don’t know if the previous owner of my car had mounted something there, or if it is there from the factory. I only used a bracket on the left side of the controller, and then used 3M tape on the top of the rest of the controller to secure it to the bottom of the gauge hood. It sits flush and out of the way.

Has anybody tried mounting it maybe in the glover box?
I don't think I wanna mount it around my steering column anywhere because I have long legs and it's already close quarters with my knees bumping things

Danny Glover? Where?
You could always go with the AEM tru-boost, or the Sard controller.
Both are 52mm (??IIRC) boost gauges that double as EBC's. The Sard one work great on a customer's FD.

Turbosmart E-boost

Not sure where the sard one came from, I just grabbed those links quickly.

I am glad you chose to go with the EBC . This may sound weird, but what you could do instead of paying $150 or whatever for the ashtray thing, is modify the current ashtray. Here is my idea:
Disassemble it, and take the lid. Make a cutout inside the lid for the Profec(I assume it fits in there, my bad if it doesn't).
Now go get a block of Styrofoam or a material similar that you can cut, but it still will remain strong enough to support the boost controller.
Now make the Styrofoam fit inside the spot of the old ashtray.
Once that is done, cut out the inside of it to fit the boost controller in. Attach the ashtray lid to the Styrofoam and run the wires through the back.
I'm just throwing this out there, if you don't like it you can throw it right back.

Doh! Alright my bad.. I wouldnt mind hacking up the ashtray, but the plastic surround is a little different just because it can be harder to find a replacement in good conditon if you mess it up.

However you still need to see the screen to see what your doing like any other type of electronic.
I mounted mine next to the idiot cluster .. it was the most logical spot seeing as how the clock never freakin worked anyway lol. I will be moving it back inside of the glove box though after I get a good boost map set.
