where to instal water temp sensor?

can anyone tell me where and how to instal water temp sensor? ive have searched and found some that werent very helpful, thanks.

Search: Title only, "water temp gauge", 2nd Gen section yields:

They tend to say make sure it's before the thermostat, tap a new hole in the water pump housing.
