Top replacement

Only difference between S4 and S5 is the cover for the targa panel.

Do a search, you'll find loads of information on this subject.

There is a company down here in Long Beach (Acme) that will make tops in different colors. So, you can customize to your body color. There is a reseller that shows up on e-bay from time to time that offers pretty good prices.

Most popular is Robbins Auto Tops To Order Call 1-888-407-9456. In all cases you'll need a good auto upholsterer to install.

i'm not exactly sure off the top of my head where it is, but there is a website that just sells convertable tops for the 7, and in multiple colors i might add. the kits come with instructions on how to install them and everything and i remember hearing they only take a few hours to get done.
I think you can choose form white, black, navy blue, tan and perhaps like 3 other colors. I know it's out there, it's just a matter of finding it.

I just bought a custom top from AA best top and I am not happy with the fittiment. Its my third top so I know this one didn't fit exactly right. Also not of the holes were cut out in the stock locations so you have to eye everything and cut and fit as you go and this is not a good way to do it. My top was 561 with a new headliner and 400 installed. Not cheap

You can go to nearly any good automotive upholstery shops for the top. They should be able to make a new one using the old one as a template. Just be sure to ask for quotes and try to find out how good the shop is. Usually they'll just less then $500, installation may be another matter.

Lightbulb Holes not cut

No after market supplyer provide the top with the holes cut. In fact, you usually have to cut to install the rear window glass. I'm very much mechanically inclined as well. Taken off and installed about every removable part on a 1st and 2nd Gen at one time or another. But, installing these things isn't mechanical as much as a craft.

The upholsterer I use prefers Robbins over Acme (AA Best Company) due to fitment issues. But, the idea of custom color is appealing so I would be willing to pay for a few extra hours for the extra tweeking needed to get a good fit.

My upholsterer recently quoted $800 installed for a Robbins top. Thats a good deal.

However, if you're interested in checking out AA Best, here is a link to an e-bay auction they are currently running:
