That is the brake booster line on the jspecs. Most of them lack the larger vac nipple on the rear facing side of the UIM where the usdm brake booster hooks up to. Dunno why, but I sure somebody knows the reason

so i can just route the brake booster line to a different nipple on the lim? or can i route it to the uim? s4 coolant necks are metal (aluminum?) but s5's are plastic...powdercoating is the way to go.

Make sure it is good sized....since that was the way it was stock.

The jspec manifolds had to have that since their brake booster is on the right side of the car.

James

Edit - Your question for the last picture...it's not a jspec LIM. Thats why...

Yes, positive. You can see the flat area on the casting that was supposed to be drilled and tapped for the brake booster line.

Here is the fun I went thru with my brake booster vac source problems.

That last one is my engine bay and it is NOT jspec. I do have a Jspec I bought back in the day from mrmazda7 on ebay and it looks just like the top two. Which will be on my car soon (not for any other reason other than I sold the one that is currenlty on it in the picture).

^That is off a US spec manifold, if you had the 2 side by side you would see the US one has a drastically larger (8mm or so) vac nipple that is the booster source.

You have both? Cap one, (I'd cap the jdm one with a bolt and some thread sealant) and run the booster line to the other.

what do you mean the jdm one? should i cap the one on the lim or on the tb or does it not even matter? are you implying the tb or lim is jspec?

By the JDM mani, I mean the one that has the nipple on the passenger side under the BAC valve. It really doesn't matter either way though which one you cap.
