where does this go?

just finishing putting my car back together after most of the winter on stands...one question though...theres a big nipple on the back of the lower intake manifold that i dont remember what to do with. anyone know what hose goes on here and where this hose goes?

this is the only pic i have right now and its not that good, but the nipple in question is the big one thats half out of the pic on the very bottom of the pic, coming out of the LIM toward the firewall.

it should go to the 4-1 vacuum spider (bottom right corner)...its for your oil injector nozzle things.

no not that one. the oil injector hose goes on the upper manifold pointing toward the front of the car. the nipple im worried about is right by where the brake booster vacuum line goes in, and its much bigger. i have everything else plugged in and no clue what goes there. for the life of me i cant even remember if its a coolant or vacuum hose.

I think he's talking about the fat one that connects to the air line that goes to the cat. The 'split air pipe.'

Yup, split air pipe. It doesn't have to be connected to anything for your engine to run. Can't say whether capping it would be good or not. Maybe someone else knows.

huh. well thanks. not what i thought. i could have sworn there was something on there when i took the manifold off...

anyways all my emissions are now gone but i took my air pump/acv off well before this latest project...i would have thought that i would remember what i did with that pipe. granted my car hasnt had cats since before i owned it but it seems like a pipe like that with nothing on it would have caught my attention before... i know i didnt cap it because i dont have a cap that big in my toolbox. wierd.

Lemme phrase that another way.

If it sitting open doesn't affect the engine at all, then it sitting closed (capped) shouldn't, either. But I don't know that 100% for certain. I wouldn't expect capping it to cause a problem, but why be the guy who finds out the hard way?

Let me phrase this another way..........hose for the SPLIT AIR PIPE goes on that nipple. It harms nothing to leave it open....because you installed a blockoff plate over the opening where the ACV was. You can pour water into it and the engine will run just fine and dandy. Or install a wasp nest in it and the engine will run just fine.

lol ok thanks guys. my car is coming ever closer to being done. i just need to go to the hardware store for a new long starter bolt and a couple more things.

stupid corksport oil cooler lines are such an iffy fit. the shorter one is stretched to the point that i dont know how long my oil cooler mounts will last like that.
