Where does coolant pass through the intake manifold???

I brought my car to Mazcare here in ATL because I thought I had a coolant leak but I couldnt find it, well they did. They said they suspect its an o-ring somewhere in the intake manifold, and said they would have to pull the turbo to get to it. Does this sound right?

There is a coolant passage that runs through the intake manifold that runs water to the turbo.

Is that still active with a hybrid turbo installed?

Mine is water and oil cooled because it uses the stock CHRA. I assume thats standard for a hybrid.

Mindspin311 - There is 2 coolant passages through the UIM. To pull the UIM and replace the orings there you do have to pull the turbo off. This is just a passage between housings. There is another line from the block to the TB to the pump housing.

There is allso a coolant line to the turbo as stated ^

Where are these o rings located and is there s certain reason why the turbo must be removed?

They are located between the LIM not UIM sorry and the block. They seal the passage that goes through the LIM and the block from housing to housing. The only way to get the LIM off is to remove the turbo. If the oring fails coolant will flow into block.

O-ring fails, coolant loss, engine overheats, rebuild time.
