also check locally. i found that we had a plastics supply warehouse here (lived here for almost 20 years and didn't know) and the dude there had a ton of remnants in different sizes and widths. i was able to get a 4 ft² piece of 1/4in. thick ABS for under $10

once your done with the outline, drill a pilot hole in 4 corners and use a jig saw. you can also cut out the holes for your gauges using a drill press and door hole saw.

Are you deadset on having it made out of plastic? Why not metal?

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053

For less than $1 I can make 3 single DIN gauge panels, for either 1 2 or 3 gauges. If you are deadset on having it made out of plastic/abs, it depends on what plastic suppliers you have locally. I am within a few miles of Tap Plastics, and I know that a scrap piece that small may cost $1-2 if not free. Why buy online and have to wait for it to be shipped out all while paying too much?

A few hints about working with ABS...
When cutting (presumably with a jigsaw) use a coarse tooth blade and slow speed.
Otherwise the plastic heats up and remelts behind the blade.
You can use water to cool the blade and panel if necessary.

GOOP works well as an adhesive, it does not melt the plastic but adheres well and is removable if necessary.

the glue i used was Weld-On #16 Clear medium bodied solvent cement. this is the type that melts the plastic a little i believe.

better if you want 3 gauges.
switches or lights can go in the holes, I had planned on a light that showed the fan was on for one of the holes
