Ground to the mounting bolts for the center consol/dash just to the right of your knee(when you are in the drivers seat), behind the access panel.

Keep your tweeters fairly close to your drivers. A comman mistake is to leave the speakers down low and mount the tweeters up high near the corners of the dash or side mirror area. This is better than nothing, but it screws up the sound stage big time.

If you need to, spend the money to get some kick-panel speaker pods (kind of expensive, so I wouldn't do it). Another option is mounting them in the upper front of the doors. Too bad the FC3S didnt' come with factory dash speakers... not the best location but damn good for factory.

Ahhh... they did come with dash speakers. Don't know which one your driving, but all FC had spots for dash speakers.

I don't get it....

see pic.....that is more or less how I want to mount mine...how do you think this would sound?

But you guys say get it close to the woofer...

I thought woofer is omni directional. Talking to my friends, they said mount it like shown on the picture, but aim the tweeter on the driver side to the passenger, and the passenger to the driver....

BTW, the S2000 stock speaker setup is like the picture...

You want to keep the distance between the tweeter and mid-range speaker within 18 inchs of each other and within a 30 degree plane.

More than either and you start running into signal overlap and timing issues.

say for example you used the door speakers as in the picture above

If you had the dash speakers in, they would be at a 90 degree angle to each others plane. There would be some phase and timing issues that would degrade the sound, unless passive crossovers or time alignment was used to fix it.

I am not saying that it will sound bad, I am saying it would not be sounding as good as it could.

i think a kickpanel mount would be tough considering the limited amount of foot space on the driver side.

I personally would hate to cut into that part of the door panel as in the above picture.

how about a custom panel insalled where the stock S5 door speaker goes holding both midrange and tweeter facing up and in and so it looks as if it was made into the panel.

thats at least what I'm doin
