there are a lot of good rotary mechanics in the northern cali area, i don't know any of them b/c i'm socal, but if you do a search in the west forum, there are a few good mechanics out in the bay area... as for buying an engine... yeah, if you search, you'll find a bunch of places that can help you out w/ getting a 13bt

I have done my own since the RX-2 came to the states. I learned as a 18 year old fresh out of HS. Was very easy then. Other than than the ocasional vac leaks, its a very enjoyable car to wrench. I was assemblying one this past weekend and the neighbors came over with beer in tow just to watch. I even showed them the old run without distributior caps trick on my RX-3 i am going to restore. One guy owns a body shop and he spent an hour looking for the "real" distributor - LOL!

I find engines in junk yards. I look for fresh kill. I always convince the guy behind the counter to sell me the engine as a core - alot cheaper. And, I rebuild from there.

Mazda reman. I would jump at a chance to look over a shoulder during a rebuild in my community.
