"Where did 2nd gear go?" Need tranny help.

A few weeks ago I let my brother drive my car and he said, "Where has 2nd gear went?" He laughed so I figured he was joking and shrugged it off. I noticed today that the position of my second gear has moved considerably and now it is extremely close to 4th. So close that a lot of the times if I'm just lazily driving around I'll accidently hit 4th instead of 2nd.
I don't know awhole lot about transmissions so I'm sure that this isn't a very good post. I was just wondering if anyone knows what could cause my 2nd gear to move over.

On a side-note it is sometimes difficult to get into 1st; doesn't grind just doesn't want to go into gear for somereason. I'm sure it is from my getting used to driving my fc over the past 8 months. Thanks for any help; I searched this topic but couldn't find anything....

I'm not for sure what you mean?
I know up and down, but From 1st to 2nd I have to move it down and then to the right about half way between where 2nd used to be and where 3rd is and then down into gear. If I try to just shift normally straight down to 2nd from first it feels like it is hitting something. Really sort of hard to explain; one of those things that needs to be felt.
If that wasn't even what you were asking let me know.
Before 2nd gear was a straight shot below 1st; possibly the smoothest shifting car I ever drove.... I just want it back. lol.
I know it is probably not anything to do with the clutch though since it just that one gear.

Can you move the shifter up and down? Will it move toward the center of the earth to the moon?

That rules out the shifter bushings, sounds like something internal to the trans then. Worn shifter rods maybe?
