When to rebuild?
Im buying a 1987 turboII RX-7 with 140000 miles on it.. and by looking at posts here seems like my engine is gonna blow soon. But I was wondering, what is a good milage that thing engine can get without getting me stuck on the side of the road, and how can I make it last longer? After buying this car Im gonna need to use it for a while till I getthe money to be able the rebuild this engine. So yeah, any ideas?

Well I hope it was taken care of. If it wasn't it probably won't last more than a couple of years if you treat is well. If it was an N/a I would say let her rip but a turbo engine is more likely to blow at that kind of mileage. I would suggest a FULL tune up for now. And start saving right now. I would personally choose a mazda remanufactured engine that runs around 2k dollars. That way you get NEW housing. If you want a cheap rebuild then try kevin landers for your work. I think you can get a rebuild for around 1500 from him.

There is no magic number that triggers massive engine explosion. It could happen at any time, just depends on how the car was driven and maintained. What makes you think its going to go soon? Is the compression low?

www.atkinsrotary.com Get the video and watch it. Best thing you can do for yourself if you have never rebuilt a rotary.
