When the O2 sensor is used?
Hi,
it seems my engine never uses the closed loop condition as my lambda sensor is never "dancing around lookin' for lambda=1" but shows rich a:f ratio all the time.
As there is a a:f potentiometer for idle does that mean the idle is not using the O2 sensor?
I suspect the O2 sensor wire cut somewhere, sometimes the engine shakes an then ECU shows error code for this sensor, but not all the time...
I guess I should re-wire it.
Thanks.
Matthieu

It's never used at idle. Only at a steady speed above something like 1700 or so rpm (memory on that part).
Actually it is possible to put it in the loop in the driveway. Just disconnect the TPS, enginer running, shifter in any gear except reverse, rpms around or over approx 1700 rpms. Been there, done that. You can actually observe that using single LED light in the six socket, green check connector. Put the red LED wire in the black/white wires socket and the other LED lead in.........oh, oh. I fogot the other socket. I think the bottom middle one. Later.
EDIT: To check out the o2 feedback, you just follow the manual/FSM/FUEL AND EMISSIONS section as shown in the second jpg attached.
The exception to the FSM, is that you don't need any fancy Monitor (use a single LED from Radio Shack for a buck and a half) nor do you have to disconnect the Neutral switch (put it in any gear instead).

For the story in France they imported... FB including in 1985, all with 12A even in that last year... then only NA S4... but with no O2 sensor but thermal cooking stuff... so my TII is from Germany.
Thanks.
edit: had a look to your website, if Mike or Tommy, do these girls need a guide in France???
