Wheel opinion

What do you guys think of these? Anyone bought any of these generic wheels?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=66483

I started seeing these ads a long time ago and I love this one particular design...and a couple others. I've contacted them and they're willing to give me 225/45-17's for just a few more bucks. Only thing I'm really concerned with is the +40 offset.

Anways...opinions?

They look nice in the ad, you won't know for sure on the quality though until they get here. Are these going on your Porsche? I don't know any offset specs for 944's.

no....they'd be getting on an FC. I've found a couple I'm trying to land now. As soon as my bikes get sold I'm def. getting another 7...even if it's an SE.

Nothing fits the 944 except porsche wheels. 5X130 spacing.

~edit...oh and I saw a couple sets of these wheels. There's a flea market in amarillo that used to carry them for like $1100 a set + tires...lol. But I couldn't really get all that great a look at them to look at surface quality or anything...but they look nice through a window, too.

I'm thinking if they have a real bad shortcoming it's going to be crappy tires. But I have a set of 17's lying around and a set of 16's lying around (ecsta supras, both) so I'm covered.

Wow. Well, +40 offset is going to sit inside the fender well just like stockers do. I have found ADR wheels that look just like those that you can get in a +35 which will push them out a little further. I don't think there is much of a price difference either.

2ndgen, you have a link to them (the adr's)?

I thought that the higher the number was, the further out the further out they were....hmmm...

I don't have a link at the moment, I will find them for you at work tomorrow though cause I think I have them bookmarked.

The lower the number means the further the edge of the wheel will extend out. Stock FC wheels are +42 or 43 offset. Alot of people run +25 in the rear because there is so much room to work with.

Nevermind, here they are:

I was wrong about offsets in 17" width. You can get a +35 in 18" but I don't think you want to go that big. They do still have +40 in 17 though. I will check on a price.

That's good to know. Thanks!

So the +40 that these wheels run should be a bit further out than the stockers? That's good. With my goals for the car I doubt I'll need much more width than 225. Just as long as it sits under the fender (no rubbing) I'm probably gonna be happy.

Price range is around 150-170 a wheel. Here are a bunch listed on Ebay. Too bad those ones for $530 are the wrong bolt pattern:

They will be further out, not really enough to notice though. You could possibly run 235's in the rear, and I think 225's will fit in the front with that offset but I am not sure. I think there is a guide on here somewhere. Right now I have 17x7.5 with a +35 offset, and I'm running 225's in the front and 245's in the rear with no clearance issues.

I don't even really want to go 17's...lol. I like 16's. I have a very cheap source for 16" ecsta supras...he get's 17's occasionally but normally cost me a bit. 18's are ridiculous in price for good tires.

Plus 18's always look to "blingy"...I'm very anti-bling.

Just to piont out...the people selling the wheels I linked to in the first post, they'll install 225/50ZR17's for an additional $125.

40mm offset will have the wheel further inboard than a 35mm offset. 40mm offset +5mm spacer = 35mm offset. Offset is the distance from the centreline of the wheel to the hub, the lower the number, the further out the wheels will be (untill you get to the centreline). You may encounter rubbing issues with this setup, but maybe not.
