wheel offset question

Ok my mind is a little slow right now, im looking at putting some new wheels on my car. I put in the specs on the page Icemark had linked in the FAQ and got this back

The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 6mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 44mm

so does this mean it will be 6mm closer to the suspension or further from it? i dont care about it sticking out of the wheel wells because im going to roll the fenders anyway. im sure this sounds like a stupid question but i cant figure it out for some reason right now.

the wheels are 17x9 with a +26mm offset by the way

Personally, I wouldn't go deeper than a +20 on a 9.0" wide wheel for the fronts.
I would rather go with a +15 offset just to get in a little more clearance.
A 9.0" rim can easily handle a 255 wide tire, but such tire widths will not fit up front under the stock fenders.
I would rather drop the rim width down to a 8.0" with about a +30 offset and run a 225 or 235 wide tire that easily fits up front.
...and less weight.

if im not mistaken, you can run 255 on an 8" rim. i have 245's on the rear on 16x8, and there looks to be room for more(with some effort). if you remove the exhaust heatshield(if its even still on the car)you will have more room in the back.

nope i dont have em, my car is a bastard and has a V8 with open long tube headers. its a road course/drag car.

as for the fronts i had actualy planed on haveing them narrowed to 7.5 but i would have to buy 9's all the way around because they only come in 17x9 and 17x10.5 i was really more worried about the back than the fronts

thanks for the help

Hate to bring this back from the dead, but I don't have anything more than excel viewer, and haven't totally figured out jimlab's spreadsheat for wheel/tire fitment. I have G-Games 18x9.5" wheels w/ +20 offsets on my S14, and my question is, will they fit on an FD? Are the offsets so bad that it won't work with stock fenders and suspension?

Edit: I'll be honest. I'm a complete moron when it comes to wheel fitment. I understand engine mechanics all day long, but this is not an area I have spent much research on, and my search hasnt helped me much.

just so you know, this is an fc forum, you might have better luck getting a response on the fd forums? also there might even be a wheel fitment specific forum?

Although this isn't the FD section...

Nissan S13 / S14 offset fitments mimic FC specs.
Thus, it will not fit an FD.
