On the same note, what might be some reasons that people are getting shitty gas mileage? Can some rotatry expert explain how we can improve it? My car is also at mid teens all the time and I just drive it as a commuter. Any help could be very useful.

no,when I did the conversion, I put in a full exhaust and intake. but I doubt that would really effect the gas mileage too much anyway. I think the real problem, for one, was that I was using the NA AFM(changed it right before I removed the engine again, and it made a big difference), and also, my PD was leaking. plus, I was having some other electrical issues at the time.

hopefully when I get my car up and running again, I should be getting much better MPG.

The key to getting the super high mileage during freeway driving is to keep the revs the highest without crossing into the secondary fuel injectors.  An AFR gauge will help, as you can tell when the ECU is in closed-loop mode (flickering AFR's) and off the sedondaries.  Typically, this is right under 4kRPM.

Bad gas mileage can be faulted to many things.
Bad O2 sensor
Bad spark plugs
Bad spark plugs wires
Bad grounds
Dirty fuel injectors

Oh, BTW, I do run a Crane Cams HI-6 CDI box.

I'm getting about 21 MPG on an 88TII...many mods...no emissions... always tuned... and a CraneHi6.
I don't give a f*ck if anyone says it doesn't help because my mpg went from 17-18 to 21. With gas prices hovering at $2.19, it helps.

she's in process of some fixes right now, but I got 21-22 mpg driving her home about 700 miles at about 65-70 mph after buying her with NO GROUND!

when we replaced her battery we descovered an empty bolt on the firewall where the ground should have been. She's got a nice 8ga ground now...

Hey I got a n00b question kind of, but eventually I wanna get a Haltech E6K/E6X, but lets say I buy that CC HI-6 ignition, would the HI-6 be useless with the Haltech? I have heard many good things about the HI-6 how it improves gas mileage and makes the car feel more responsive or something, but hell for $200 or less it will help out in gas savings! So if I buy the Haltech would the HI-6 be useless (like does the haltech take the place of the crane cams igniton)? Thanks guys!

Nooooooo! Never do this! If you do not use the secondary injectors on a regular basis, they will cake up with deposits and the engine will go lean and destroy itself if you try to accelerate at higher rpms.

The worst blown engine that I have ever seen was destroyed by a guy who thought he was being "nice" to the engine by staying out of the secondaries. It was so bad that one apex seal jammed into the groove of another, and a part of an apex seal was impailed in the rotor. Both rotors and the housings were toast, btw.

^ Ouch.

On Pump 87 Octane gas:
High: 26MPG 80MPH Highway - Stock in-tune 1990 'vert.
Low: 16MPG w/ VERY Spirited driving mixed w/ nice driving. + RB Exhaust. (And possably an ailing O2 Sensor)
