Whats your opinion on s4 NA transmission

I have a 88 vert and the transmission seems pretty good its not that smooth and it grinds bad when its cold going into seconded but it seems great when its warmed up what is your guys opinion with them

My opinion is if you put in some new, quality gear oil (Neo is my favorite), I'll bet it'll help with the grinding.

Worn 2nd gear syncros are very common.

Doesn't mean the transmission is bad. It may run for another 200K like that.

Make sure that you are running the stock weight gear oil (80-90 I think). Or use a 75-90 synthetic.

I'd been using Amsoil GL-4 which is 75w-90 for years and it works great in my turbo 2!
