my car is acting up and i cand figure out whats whats wrong with it. here are the symptoms, i dont know if they have any relation to each other.

check engine light comes one on every start up and blinks away when i press on the gas. it doesn not do the warm up accel any more and it is also sputtering at idle, but just alittle. i thought it was a stuck cable so i though id mess with the idle screw and cable, it didnt do anything. i turn off the car and then back on just for power. here ive notice that something in the engine bay was making a motering noise comming from the DC. just out of couriousity i press the throttle cable and it stop for a second and then came back on. i then messed with the TPS by rubbing some of the grime of the side of the buttom so that it slides better in and out when the throttle is pressed. the motoring sound went away.
is this a bad TPS? i have not hesitation in the RPMs.
do you think it could be a ground problem?
i did redo them about 4 months ago but did not cover them with anything to protect corrosion.

dont knwo if this is related but it makes wierd noise when engaging the clutch.
i also fee like ive lost power but i think its just because im down due to the car.

any thoughts or help apprieciated. thanks

well the clutch sounds like a throwout bearing going bad. other then that...i dont think ican help

so i checked oil, coolant and sparks and all is good. alt is charging normaly, all belts are in spec. havent check the tps or timing because i dont have a voltimeter ot a timer. i catn figure out why its still throwing a check engine light randomly. i also notice that when the check engine light is on, it will go away when i step on the gas

answers that can help me out,
can bad timing or a tps throw a check engine light?
can a bad waterpump? i dont know how to check this.
does a random check engine light mena check for codes?
