i just got a 87 turbo II from a guy i know and i get it home and try to see if it will start put all it does is just keep spinning over. after a while it will start cranking faster and faster. do u have any idea why it would do that?? i got the car for real cheap and the tranny,clutch,fuel pump was just replaced. it might have engine prob. he didnt know. he knows the turbo was getting red hot. so it locked up. i need to know how hard is it to put a 16g turbo on it from a eclipse. the car has 160,000 on it. whats the longest they will run? thanks

 

well usually turbos last a little over 100k before needing a rebuild-When cranking the motor does it sound like it has a rythem or is it spinng free very fast-Take out the plugs and crank it you should heargushes of air thatall sound the same (psssst pssst pssst) if their is any difference then thier is a problem-Has the car been sitting- you might be able to try the atf treatment if everything else checked out

 

The turbo glowing is not a prolbem, mines glows all the time. If you are going to get a different turbo have the one you have upgraded don't put a 16g on it, besides it wont mount up to your manifold.
