the video just showed us a revving motor and a little smoke coming out of the exhaust, we wouldn't really know what's the problem that's bothering you. just list it up, write it here and of course, we're here to help. it's just hard to analyze from the video that you posted...

For one thise its sure, heard, and and rather annoying trying to read speach like that.
On your problem when revving sound like you might have a motor mount loose, although that wouldn't cause it not to go over 40 mph. Also from the vid it doesn't show anything on how it's not going over 40 mph. If it's not going over 40 while driving I would say a vacuum problem or a leak in a seal which may cause it to blow excess smoke when revving and no speed gain.

I am not 100% posative on the reason for no speed gain, but the pop in the sound on the rev (wow that was a bad sentance) sounds like a motor mount. I just had to fix that on mine. I am going on everything I have read on these forums, manuals, and a little experience.

I would say loose or broken, usually that pop in the sound is when the engine torchs (sp?)/twists. The tail pipe moves a bit because the engine is able to move too far and it causes it to change sounds. Like those horns you can get at parades where if U bend it as you blow into it the sound changes lol

Before you go dumping your money into yet another engine, give the rest of a car a walk through. Can you describe any of the symptoms your car is experiencing. Its hard to help you diagnose a problem with a video of an engine running. Could be 700 dif things no leading or trailing spark, clogged cat...... See if you can get more info on it. Any trouble codes? Check the Factory Service Manual at http://www.rx7city.com/88manual.htm. Mazda's FSM is very vague but it should get you started on pin pointing the problem. Then come back here and let us know what you find. Most are here to help get the car to optimum performance rather than give you a spelling grade. We'll get that car on the road.

Ok the car sounds very odd, as you know.. Coul dbe anything from a very clogged fuel filter, filter sock, to a dying fuel pump, to a blown apex seal... Smart thing to do would be...

1) check compression- either poor man's method or with a guage
2) change small things like spark plugs, fuel filters, fuel pumps

Then see where you are.

Have you checked the timing? Have you looked for vacume leaks? Is the hose coming from the intercooler still hooked to the the TB? How's your TPS?

The list goes on..

sorry to hear that man, unfortunately that means your motor is toast, it'll need to be completely torn down and rebuilt, expect to put out about 1k-2k

Take off you exhaust manifold and see if there are still seals intact in the rotors, its possible it could just be carbon locked.
