What's It Worth?
I have an 88 RX-7 convertible, 62K original miles, white w/blue leather, excellent shape with the exception of a ding in the front from me running it into the garage last summer I think I overpayed when I bought it, but now need tuition money for my son. How much is it worth? Figure I'll wait till late March/early April to put it out there. Also, how's the best way to sell a car these days?

The real question is "What is the car worth to you?"
Once you decide on that figure, the remaining job is finding a forum that puts the car in front of potential buyers.
The RX-7 is not a particularly sought after car, so once you cross the $4-5k price barrier, you need to appeal to fans...like you'd find on this forum.
They would (possibly) appreciate the finer points of the car you want to sell and (again, possibly) be willing to pay for them.
Below that price point, I'd suggest Craigslist.
Yes, it's a pain (for a variety of reasons), but I've successfully sold three cars in the last year on Craigslist, so I know it can be done.
Not to sound obvious, but all a successful sale requires is a seller willing to find the right buyer.
In these crappy economic times, that might take longer than you'd like, so I'd recommend starting right away, with the expectation that it's going to be a long haul.

A good way to get top dollar is to put a for sale sign in the window of it and drive it around. I have had several people try to talk me into selling my car to them (I do not have a for sale sign on my car either).
I would recommend searching ebay for 1986-1991 rx7 convertibles. Then in the column on the left of the screen select completed listings. The one's with green values are one's that sold, and red values did not sell. It should give you a good idea of what people are currently paying them.
Here is a non-running vert in pretty rough shape that sold for $1225.00 a few days ago.

I have three teenagers. Oldest drives a Pontiac Vibe, just picked up a nice Jeep Liberty for my middle one, had bought the RX for him, but it became mine when I found the deal on the Liberty. If it doesn't sell, it's no huge deal. College tuition is damned expensive. Here's the Craigslist link: http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/2163543313.html
