whats up with my car??

i have a 91 n/a with no mods except foam filter/cold air box

the other day i was out driving around and tried to spin my wheels in second, got it up to abuot 7500 rpm in first and dropped it into second and to my surprise, my engine just kind of bogged down. that didnt make me happy, so i tried to power shift it and see what happens, same thing. it revs up fine in first, and when its in second and third it revs up fine also, but its just when i shift that it bogs down. this really confuses me because it just started doing it.
i would just like to know what i can check/play with to remedy this problem.

So between gears it stumbles (ie shifting into 3rd you get a delay)?

when i shift into the next gear, the engine kind of hesitates, and the rpms, go down lower than where they should, then it revs up, but it doesnt "stab" like it used to (about a week ago). the only thing that i changed that has nothing to do with it, is aboout a week ago i got new tires, i've noticed it since a couple days after that.

I'll have to check the manual when I get home. Could be the TPS (best bet) or timing but I'm not 100% sure.

Check your dashpot. I had the same problem, and I checked the throttle cable. It was really slack, so I tightened it, and the problem went away!

Give it a good tuneup.

Also, what were you doing before?? spinning second?? maybe your clutch is getting weak and cant break the tires loose anymore in second so it kind of grabs slow but doesnt slip?? Does this sound like the problem cause that would bog the engine down.

i think it could be the clutch, because i think it is the origonal one, but could it change that much in just a week?
i used to have a tercel and had a slipping clutch (and bad caburator) and it did kind of the same thing but felt distinctly different than this
