whats with these injectors?

when i pull the injectors to my car when i at the beginning of the rebuild the bushings or thick oring things at the top of the injector were fine but i just looked at them today and i noticed that they have expanded a bit and gotten bigger and now no longer have a real tight fit around the neck. the also feel kind of soft. what kind of liquid could have caused this? and are the orings still usable? if not, you think the local auto shop would have them?

Petroleum-based liquids will swell some rubber compounds, but one would think Mazda would use a compound that would be unaffected by gas/oil. Maybe they are just failing due to old age. Replace all the O-rings. They're not that expensive. It's cheap insurance.

Actually, if you have the injectors out of the car, why not spend a few more bucks and send them off to Cruzinperformance.com for cleaning, testing and replacement of all rubber components and pintel caps.

If the wrong type of rubber is used, then they will swell. I suspect that the o-rings placed on the injector were not nitrile or viton, and thus swelled.
