whats my car worth?

ok i need to knowledge of you 2nd gen gurus to help me out with this. i dont exactly know the value of my car since the price i paid for it was like not even close to waht its worth. so anyways long story short someone asked about buying my car and im totally down for it cause i found an s5 i'd love to buy.
now anyways. i have a 1987 rx-7 n/a. i just hit 125k miles like last night. everything that came with the car is there except for the window sticker and the mazda sticker on the air box, i actually received the floor mats and dash cover when i bought it. kinda a bonus in my opinion. but none of the interior plastics are missing or anything. its pretty much 100% complete. the paint has started to fade but after 22 years thats not news. just a few door dings. nothing bad., so if you could give me a ball park as for wahts its worth that would be sweet. as much as i'd hate to sell it i'd love to get this s5 thats for sale here in town.

pictures will help - i've seen them go from 300 to 4,000 but with 125k miles, what really matters is how well it was maintained. If you try to sell it to somebody who is a rotor-head and knows a lot about these cars, if they are smart they are going to be more interested in YOU than in the car.

Without pictures, and with the description you gave, I'd say it could probably sell for around $2k.

IMO between around "fair" or "good".

But if you sell it here, expect people who are used to paying for "poor", which start at $0 and go up from there.

Is it a base, Sport, or GXL? Any rust? Is the paint that's "starting to fade" in need of a buffing, or does the car need a repaint immediately? If it's fairly nice looking and you have all the maintenance records for 22 years, that's a plus for many buyers. I'd think in the $1800-3000 range depending on model and condition.

its a luxury i think? not sure. prolly just a base. no rust. as for the fading paint just around the top of the driver door and below the window the clear coat is kinda disappearing. but for the rest of the car its just in need of a good buffing. the guy wanted to buy it is in no way a rotorhead. i think he is just in need of a good running car. as for pictures my camera just died but i did get a couiple.

That door was probably repainted & blended at some point because the factory finish for solid colors was single stage, i.e., no clear. Also, it looks like you can see the tape line on the black window molding from the repaint. Not a big deal to repaint just that panel though. Car does look nice, but it is a 4-lug, base brakes, open diff NA S4 so it's at the bottom of the desirability heap. I'd agree with the $2000 range depending on the market in your town.

in az, those go for 500-1000 all the time... S4, 4-lug phone dials, oxidized paint. The only thing that one has over the rest is a decent interior, and seemingly well maintained.

a little comparison, i bought mine for 2300. It was n/a as well, a 91 with 95k miles from the original owner, paint in better condition (no offense just stating) and interior is MINT... so i would say maybe 1500. 2000 on a good day to a buy that just has to have it. But really and truly its worth whatever it's worth to you.

you already have a second car planned out, how badly do you want that car? how much is it running for? whats the difference you need to get it.

^^ Spectrum you also have a s5.

I'm sure it's not a single piston brake system. I'd say $1500 for your car, just because it's the base package.

well i'd really love to have an s5 anyday. and that one is runnin for lik 750 as is. runs and drives great. so really anything i make over the 750 would be for fixing it up or maybe go towards a t2 swap i'd love to do.

Sometimes I wish I still lived in the South. When I was looking for my current 7 in the D.C. area, I looked at everything that came up for sale within a 200 mile radius for about 3-4 months that wasn't obvious junk from the seller's photos or based on the description. I looked at about 20 cars. Most were either trashed, riced, rusted, wrecked, had a stripped interior, etc. I saw three that were worth considering and bought the best one. You guys that can find find these nice clean FCs for $1000-1500 (sometimes less) need to realize how lucky you are!
