Question What's the Lightest I Can Gut a FC for Drag Racing?

I have an '86 base with no options. What the lightest you think I can get it down to? Any examples, pics, or opinions welcome.

proly like 2100 pounds. You would have to gutt everything though. basically make it look like a tin can on the inside. Are you talking about a drag car or a weekend racer that will be driven daily? It is all a matter of comfort i guess. Like I got into an argumen about how removing the accessories. That guy pissed me off a bit but he is just unwilling to compromise for loosing weight. Oh well

It will be full drag, but with lights, turn signals, etc so that it can appear street-legal.

inother words a daily driver taht is illegal.

Well you can remore a lot of stuff.
Get run-flat tires and rid yourself of the spare and jack.
remove the front and rear bumper and reinforcments all the interior and if you are the only one drivin in it the pass. seat can stay home all the sound deadening stuff. the dash can go too the door panels tow hooks sun roof get lexan to replace the hatch and windows.

There is a ton of stuff that you can do to remove weight. Just pull the interior and you will see it all A vert aluminum hood will save about 20 pounds, too.

.
You do realize that run-flat tires are extremely heavy, and are not performace oriented tires at all...

Dont forget about all the weight you can pull out of the engine bay. I probally lost about 50-60lbs just pulling the jusk you dont need under the hood.

the lightest i've ever heard of was 2175 or so - keep in mind that if you were to get pulled over, this thing probably is so street-ILLegal they would ticket you without a question
do a search, i don't remember who it was

Yes they are alot heavier, and try getting some drag radials that are also run-flats.

This is a drag only car that might get taken to a meet every now and then. It already has 28x9 slicks and 15" aluminum wheels so tires are taken car of.

Man I wonder where I am at, only thing I have left to ditch is the passenger seat and dash, which I don't think I will. I even have side exhaust

i think around 2000. that is unless you were using an N/A 13b which would help a lot.

Yep, levi's is very light. Think he ran a 15.3 with a shitty launch and just intake and exhaust.
