Theres a green plug right next to the battery in the engine pay. Get a spade connector and plug it into that.. its a 12v IGN source.

i hate to not answer your question but its better to run a thermostat controlled switch if you do it by just switched on it will take longer for your car to warm up.

Yeah, but maybe he wants the thermo switch to be hot only when the car is running....

oh i didnt see any mention of a thermostatic switch. my fan comes on for maybe 30 seconds after the car is turned off and if its really really hot once it cycles off first time itll come on a minute later for all of 10 seconds or so. is not eternity and besides just cuz you turned you car off doesnt mean its not hot anymore. in fact i believe it gets hotter when turned off. thats just my biased two cents.

Exclamation Please look at pic and tell me if thats cool???

Reason I am asking so many questions on this electrical issue is that I don't know the Rx7's tempermental electrical system so well. I have an adjustable thermoswitch with relay with my 18" Fan. Pos (+) from battery has an inline fuse on the wire. Fan Pos (+) #1 has an inline fuse as well. Ground for thermoswitch assembly is indicated in the picture. The real question is this:

The Green diag. connector that I have used for my IGN-ON power supply... Is that going to cause me any issues? Please check the pic and someone let me know. (I used a blade style connector to plug into it so it is EASILY removed if not acceptable...)

Thank you guys!

Why do people keep telling people to use that connector for this stuff..........

Run a new wire from the battery.... put in a relay and wire it to the ignition..... Thermoswitch would be good for the actual activation...

if you havent read this read it.

http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/efaninstall.htm

i dont really understand what you are asking but thats not the connector i used. the ign source i used is the green connector by the battery. find 12v with ign on with a volt meter and make sure its off when u turn the key off. not real hard. do not cut the wire, use a wire tap like this if you dont wanna solder http://maxima.bryanb.com/fog/fog12.jpg

run that wire to your thermoswitch and then to relay and then to ground. then wire the fan to the relay. ding ding. just like aaron says.

I used the green connector on the other side of the engine bay. right next to the batter and the leading coil pack.

Oh... you know what.. I read this wrong... I apologize.. I thought you were pulling the actual current through the green plug.. Like people do with fog lights all the time... gay.

Yeah. thats a good source if you only need switched +12 to power the relay....

Yeap, theres even a screw whole right there where you can bolt a relay down right next to it. I drew power off the main engine fuse right there, then ran it to the green plug from the relay for the 12v IGN on. and then ground to the strut tower. Everything you need to hook up the E fan with the relay is right there within 5 inches.
