88 RX7 Questions

Alright, I got an 88 RX7... not sure what trim, but I got some questions. It's got the 13b engine, is n/a and a 5spd. Is it worth turbocharing the current motor or is a swap a better idea? Whats the safe amount of nitrious for it? Any parts that I should know about strengthening that are weak from the factory? I ask this because I am not familiar with rotaries, I am a honda guy that turned. Love these so much more.

The car is really clean, low miles, has an HKS dual exhaust, HKS headers.. all heatwrapped. Some ignition wires and whatnot, but I think thats all the real performance it has. Lemme know on suggestions of what I can do. I'd like to know mostly about the right amount of nitrious and if Turbo charging the 13b is a good idea or swapping to the turboII motor. Thanks

There is like 847 threads on swaps.

With no experience to back this up: They take a bit of time but end up not being that troublesome, just stay in the same generation. 1986-88 and 89-91 are different wiring.

With no experience to back this up: Nitrous is BAAAD.

Turboing the original engine is doable, look into posts by Aaron Cake, he has a website that he documents every single thing he did to do it.

A few pics or a VIN# could tell us wat trim it is.

Weak from the factory: FC 2nd and 5th gear synchros will go. You won't have many problems with mechanical parts because... there are very few! Bad wiring/grounding is notorious in these cars. A lot of parts never worked from the factory, like the Subzero starting system. Read the FAQ!
