Question Whats gonna break????

Just wonderin what is most likely to break first when racing down the 1/4mi.? Are the half shafts a weak point? Or is it the rear differential mount? Also, anyone know a really good way to launch these cars??????

I usually slip the clutch pretty good on launches, but I have some torque cutting mods. Just make sure you don't break your clutch!

And what are the symptoms for a mest up rear differential mount.

FC3AZ- What I try and do sometimes is estimate when the person is going to say three. Before that like on 2 I hit the gas and when the tac reaches 4k rpm I dump the clutch as fast as I can or else it will slip. This usualy gives me a really good launch. U have to find your spot because most 7s will differ. I have been launching my car hard for a wile now and everything is still good. A few trouble spots that might be wearing in but I dont know what they are yet. Everythings the original 14 yr old stuff too. Not bad. 89GXL

My clutch only has about 10k mile on it, so I think it is in pretty good shape. Just gotta make sure to give it some rest between runs to cool down and stuff.

MY mechanic's shop races a 7 (well, used to race - the owner has decided to sell his TII and give it up after smoking another engine last fall) and they used to go through diffs like they were Pez. This is with the clutch getting dumped at 6k+.

They finally figured out the problem. There is a *tiny* bit of play where the front diff mount meets the body. So they made their own spacer and threw it in. Voila! No more snapped diffs.

For your consideration...
