s5's have slightly different internals than s4's... the rotors on the s5's are the same mass as the rotors on the s6..

Now then... without going into a long draw out discussion about balancing and engine internals... .

If you are running the stock computer, and have a stock motor... i wouldn't suggest pegging that car out very often..

Also.... if you look at the horsepower curve for a stock s4, by the time you hit 7K, its dropped off considerably, by the time you hit 8... you're just grinding metal....

Even with headers, which tilt the horsepower curve toward the higher RPMS, you will be on the down slope of the curve by 7...

Shifting at a Higher RPM doesn't give you more power, but what it does do is put the engine in a better spot on the powerband when you hit the next gear. The Ideal situation would be to have the peak HP numbers be somehwere around 75% of the way through the gear, because the dropoff is much sharper than the climb!!

Why would you want to do something that overstresses the engine unnecessarily when it doesn't make power out there?
Can you prove the engine does make power over 7kRPM?
