Whats the best method to remove a broken bolt in the block for the oil pan ?

I have a broken bolt inside the block for my oil pan, another user on here Spot_skater told me to use a small drill bit and drill a guide very small hole into the bolt (not deeper than the bolt goes), then put a reverse drill bit into the hole to get it to come out.

The engine will not be out it will still be in the car and probably on drive up wheelstands.

Someone else told me a helicoil would do it , but I like the ider of using the threads that came in the car better than replacing them.

Not a reverse drill bit... an EZ out... It's a reverse spiral thing used to pull out broken bolts.

You won't need a helicoil unless the threads are damaged.
