whats the best custom exhaust setup; but quiet?

im going to get one of those n1 style mufflers and going to go with a custom exhaust setup. 2.5 pipe from the stock cat w/2 precats; what tricks can i do to lessen the noise? id had a 2.5 from the cat, with no resanator, on my civic and it was loud a fuct. i have heard of test pipes lessen he noise? can someone explain that and recommend on what setup to have? i plan to have single exhaust pipe to n1 muffler on driver side.

Test pipes actually make it louder.
N1 mufflers are inherently designed to make a lot of noise - no way around it.
Good luck.

I know it's expensive, and not custom, but the RB setup is quiet and sounds amazing.

Save your money and get the RB. You will not regret it.

RB or the Greddy (SP?) are the quetest for our cars. Besides the OE system, of course.

So since you're keeping the cats, and you want the single N1, and you want quiet.
Just put a cheap pre-silencer behind the main cat.

The iron box collector & the cats knock down the racket, but they leave too much for an N1 to quiet.
The pre-silencer will really mellow the tone.

agreed.

The N1 is quieter with the silencer cap...but you might as well keep the stock on then.
