This may be stupid, but title has like a dozen typos it says 1990, carfax says 1991, and the guy i bought it from says 90 and 91, but i dont know, is there a way to look at the vin num and tell the year, just ask and ill give it too u.

Well, from just looking at the car you can tell the series of it. Sometimes the badging on the car will also give away the year within a series too. You should check the FAQs at the top for more information about that.

As for determining the year based on the VIN number, yes the VIN number does indicate the year. JM1FC3311G indicates a 1986 coupe model RX-7. JM1 is in all the VIN numbers for second and third generations, basically indicating Mazda passenger car. FC indicates RX-7 model of car. 33 indicates coupe. 1 indicates a non-turbo car. The second 1 is a check digit (variable). G indicates the year the car was made.

"G" just stands for the year 1986. You have an "L," so that means it is a 1990 model RX-7.

It is 1990 because of the "L" in the VIN code. The 331 means you have auto shoulder belts.
