Question What year to buy?

I'm interested in looks as well as performance. I need both though. I want the 86-88 for lower prices and lower weight, but with the 86-88's is it harder to find bodykits, exterior pieces, etc. that make the car look good? I've read that most of the bodykits are made for the 89-92 cars and wouldn't fit correctly on the older ones. Is this correct? Should I just wait for a 89-92? I'm actually interested in the GP Sports kit and upgrading to the later model taillights if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

You're probably right. Thanks. I read through the FAQ after posting this and found the answers to my questions...doh...my bad. My question about the taillights has been fully answered, but I'm still not sure about the front bumper. I'm just scared I'm going to buy a kit for 1700 bucks and have it fit like crap you know?

Has anybody put a kit on their 86-88 and had it fit well? Even if a bodyshop had to do some custom work?

It all depends on your personal preference. Everybody has their own opinion as to what their cars should look like.

I would do some research before settling on a specific FC. Look at the differences between the two series. Know what you're getting into. Then decide...

Basically, I've found an 86 for about 500 bucks right here almost down the street for me and I guess my only question is whether the GP Sports bodykit or even the Bomex kit would fit well on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Both kits would fit fine (well, as well as if they were S5 or S4- I mean they are fiberglass kits and will need some minor tweaking to fit right regardless of year).

Can you tell I'm a newbie or what? Sorry for the stupid questions. I've always been a performance guy over looks so I never had to deal with the body before. I'm an ex DSM guy...lol. God I wish my damn ex never talked me into trading that in for a stinking SUV (it does make for a comfortable trip car though).
